During one of the tutorial class, Miss Thivilojana ordered us to think of writing an essay based on the title given, "Suggest ways to conserve the environment by constructing green homes".

Green Homes

          Some people say that it is too late to save the nature as man. Almost every part of the world has damaged by those who are irresponsible. The land filled with nature’s glow is slowly disappearing as we speak. One of the main reasons for this phenomenon to occur is due to the increase of human population and the constant development of various industries. However, despair not, for there are ways to conserve Mother Nature in this evolving world, one of the many ways is to construct green homes.

          Green homes can be starting off by reducing the usage of the light bulb. “Even small changes can make a big impact,” says Tanya Ha, author of the Plant Ark book Greeniology: How to Live Well, Be Green and Make a Difference. Ha advises, “Every time a light bulb needs changing, people should replace it with a compact fluorescent.” Although compact fluorescents are more expensive, but they can last up to six to ten times longer and less energy used.           A second way of constructing green home is insulation. Most of the heat transmitted into rooms come from the sun hitting the roof, says Manila architect Amado P. de Jesus, Jr. “To minimize this heat, you should install insulation in between the ceiling and the roof as well as in the walls,” Manila suggests. The best option to fritter away the heat will be ventilate the roof. When heat increasing, exhaust fan can be installed to run. Insulation your home can prevent the cool air that produces by the air conditioners from flowing out from the windows and doors.           Whether the ways are reducing the usage of light bulb or insulation, green homes will not be constructed if you do not take the first step. In fact, you just need to get the ball start rolling.

During the process of writing this essay, I learned to express my thoughts in a different way through words. Furthermore, I had to write down the main point for pre-writing before I start my essay.
