EPC Project 3 - Comparative Research

This project focuses on comparative research. First of all, our task is to study 2 businesses of the same type. One has to be in Penang while the other has will be in Klang Valley.

This research project is conducted through a combination of both primary sources and secondary sources, which are the interviews on the site visit and other reliable references such as books and magazines. The data collected will be complied in the report.

In addition, we are required to present the content of the report using the techniques which we learnt in class.

The Brief

After a group discussion, we decided to research about pets shops. On 1st of May 2015, Hazel, Zia Huei, Jia Yi, Cindy, Lee Ning and I went on a road trip to Macalister Road in Penang to construct an interview with the founder of K9 Pets, Mr. Tan Teik Poh.

Next, on 25th of May 2015, we proceed to Petsmore headquarter which located at Shah Alam. We conducted an interview with Mr. Sean Saw, the founder of Petsmore.

After surveying Petsmore, we went back to campus and started working on the report and presentation slides. After much team effort, we finally done with the artistic cover, report and the presentation slides.

Upon the submission of this report, we have to deliver a 20-25 minutes presentations on the findings and informations of our report and about the interview as well.

Through this project, we developed a deeper insight about the pets industry. Also, I found that teamwork is very important. Every group member is responsible for the report, each member carry their own role in this assignment. I am also glad that our presentation skills had improved. 

Besides, from this project, I had learned how to make used of my critical thinking skill, I need to translate the information we gathered from the interview to the report using appropriate academic English. I also gained my experience after the presentation. I'm not a good public speaker, but I tried my best and will continue doing it.
